Job Title: Director of Philanthropy, CAS

Position Information

The Director of Philanthropy, CAS will be responsible for leading the fundraising efforts for the College of Arts and Sciences at Oakland University. This role will involve managing a portfolio of prospects and donors, conducting activities leading to gifts of $25,000 and above, and working collaboratively with the Senior Director of Philanthropy, the Dean of the College, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of prospects and donors to secure gifts of $25,000 and above.
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Philanthropy, the Dean of the College, and other stakeholders to advance the fundraising goals of the College.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, alumni, and faculty.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices in major gifts fundraising and apply this knowledge to achieve fundraising goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of four (4) years' progressively responsible experience in development and fundraising, preferably with several years of experience in a collegiate/university setting.
  • Demonstrated success in obtaining gifts of $25,000 and above.
  • Experience working with fundraising volunteers.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to interact effectively with high capacity donors and prospects, corporate executives, and foundation officers.
  • Thorough knowledge of the major gifts fundraising process and an understanding of planned giving.
  • Knowledge of the computer and databases and their application to development and fundraising activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive and campaign experience preferred.

Position Details

This is a full-time position that reports to the Senior Director of Philanthropy, College of Arts and Sciences. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of securing major gifts and will be able to work collaboratively with a team to advance the fundraising goals of the College.
