Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Resident Director to join our team at UMass Dartmouth. As a key member of our Student Affairs department, you will be responsible for the overall management and supervision of a residential community, promoting a positive and engaging environment for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor Resident Assistants (RAs) and other student staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the success of the residential community.
  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives to promote student development, engagement, and retention, in collaboration with academic partners and staff.
  • Provide direct customer service and responsive communication with students, parents, and families, addressing concerns and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work collaboratively with University departments and offices to develop and implement policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with University regulations and guidelines.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of RA staff, ensuring a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Manage office supplies, Hall Council, and Programming budgets, ensuring effective use of resources and fiscal responsibility.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Previous residence life experience or comparable responsibility in an educational group living environment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and be available for on-call duties as needed.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
