Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Resident Director to join our team at UMass Dartmouth. As a key member of our Student Affairs department, you will be responsible for the overall management and supervision of a residential community, promoting a positive and engaging environment for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor Resident Assistants (RAs) and other student staff, providing guidance and support to ensure a successful residential experience.
  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives to promote student development, engagement, and retention, in collaboration with academic partners and staff.
  • Provide direct customer service and responsive communication with students, parents, and families, addressing concerns and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with University departments and offices to develop and implement policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with University and departmental standards.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of RA staff, ensuring a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Manage office supplies, Hall Council, and Programming budgets, ensuring effective use of resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including serving on departmental and divisional committees, and representing the department on University committees.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Previous residence life experience or comparable responsibility in an educational group living environment, with a minimum of one year of experience.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to supervise and mentor staff effectively.
Benefits

UMass Dartmouth offers a competitive salary range of $46,669 - $60,000, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including 75% employer-paid health insurance, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, long-term disability, and state pension retirement plan.

Applicants must be authorized for employment in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship is not available.
