Kleinfelder is seeking a Construction Project Engineer / Site Engineering Manager.

We offer a SIGN ON BONUS UP TO $5,000 for qualified candidates.

Our Construction Management team serves a diverse array of local and national clients. We are on the lookout for motivated individuals who aspire to join a dynamic team and advance their careers in construction management and engineering.

Qualified candidates should demonstrate strong initiative, oversee safety measures in projects involving traffic control, and provide comprehensive oversight and documentation of construction methodologies and contractor operations to ensure adherence to plans and specifications.

Ideal candidates will have experience in engineering or construction management with state Departments of Transportation (DOTs).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Possess a solid understanding of Civil Engineering principles and Construction Methods, Materials, and Equipment, including state DOT Standards and Specifications.
  • Effectively interpret and administer state DOT contracts.
  • Analyze construction plans, provisions, standards, and specifications.
  • Train, coordinate, and supervise team members.
  • Plan and utilize resources efficiently, continually seeking cost reduction opportunities, developing accurate budgets, and tracking expenditures.
  • Identify and cultivate project opportunities for new and expanded services for both new and existing clients.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations, client requirements, and company policies, including safety and environmental regulations.
  • Establish project goals, milestones, and procedures, define roles and responsibilities, acquire necessary resources, and monitor project progress.
  • Maintain a strong focus on detail and accuracy, committed to excellence, and proactively address quality issues.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Provide oversight for state DOT on federally funded projects.
  • Operate with a high degree of independence and initiative.
  • Manage project documentation, including daily work quantities, project events, and correspondence.
  • Review and recommend acceptance of change proposals and provide impartial interpretations of contract documents.
  • Maintain effective communication with project personnel, clients, municipal representatives, and utility companies.
  • Supervise assigned employees to ensure compliance with documentation and testing requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic documentation software.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in state DOT construction inspection and management.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • P.E. in Engineering preferred, but extensive project experience may be considered in lieu of licensure.
  • A valid state Driver's License.
  • Ability to work in challenging weather conditions and navigate rough terrain.
