Job Title: Director, Security

At NBCUniversal, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Security to join our team. As a key member of our Global Security Operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing all security logistics and physical security operations for NBC News, including planning and executing remote operations domestically and in Latin America.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with NBC News producers, camera operators, senior executives, talent, and local staff to plan and execute security logistics and operations, including assessing security needs, securing vendors, and conducting after-action reviews.
  • Prepare detailed risk assessments for travelers in the On Assignment Unit and/or NBC News.
  • Oversee security vendors, including contracts, budgets, and invoice processing, and implement security action plans for NBC News.
  • Establish security guidelines and training requirements for NBC News employees and coordinate all necessary security-related trainings.
  • Work closely with the NBCU Global Security Operations and Cyber Security team to coordinate and advise on NBC News security needs and develop a regular communication rhythm with the NBCU Global Response & Intelligence Center (GRIC) team.
  • Assist NBC News management with investigations when appropriate.
  • Play an active role in representing the Global Security Operations with Business Continuity and Crisis Management teams.
  • Develop and maintain effective business relationships with local and national law enforcement and emergency response government agencies.
  • Direct personal protection support for NBC News senior executives and talent, as needed.
  • Provide guidance on the design, development, assessment, and effectiveness of company security policies.
  • Assess security risk for NBC News people, assets, and properties, by establishing project scope, auditing program design, and the execution of control design and operating effectiveness tests.
  • Develop, plan, and execute against continued process optimization and quality improvement initiatives, focused on improving functions, quality, and costs, including performance vs. standard/best practice initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Professional experience in law enforcement, military, corporate security, and/or a related role, preferably with experience in remote and high-risk/hostile environments.
  • Experience managing a budget and working with vendors.
  • Experience with general security concepts and methods such as vulnerability assessments, privacy assessments, intrusion detection, incident response, security policy creation, enterprise security strategies, architectures, and governance.
  • Must be willing to be on call and available 24/7 for emergencies.
  • Must be willing to travel, as needed, and at times on short notice.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Corporate security experience in the field of news or major event security highly desired.
  • Demonstrated experience working with senior-level executives and high-profile talent, particularly in the security discipline.
  • Successful track record building consensus and influencing senior leadership and stakeholders in order to implement strategy and achieve results in times that can be fast-paced, pressurized, and of high volume.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation skills, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Successfully led and managed a team based locally and remotely.
  • Proven ability to manage and maintain confidential information.
  • Exceptionally strong multi-tasking skills and proven ability to handle competing priorities under tight deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain excellent relationships, through clear and effective communication, with all levels of management across functions and divisions domestically and internationally.
  • Experience establishing and implementing departmental strategy, as well as managing short and long-term projects and developing team members.
  • Broad professional experience working as a part of a globally dispersed team is a plus.
  • Established project management skills and experience.
  • Ability to coordinate several projects and daily responsibilities concurrently.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience in the areas, industry, and emerging trends of Corporate Security and/or Law Enforcement information management programs.
  • Self-motivated operator with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic setting.
  • Bachelor's Degree desired with a degree in Criminal Justice, Security, or related field strongly preferred.

This is a hybrid position, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. This position is eligible for company-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
