Pre-Certification Specialist

Job Summary:
The Pre-Certification Specialist will be responsible for obtaining pre-certification for all inpatient admissions and pre-authorization for all outpatient diagnostic tests. This role requires the application and interpretation of policies and procedures, as well as the use of independent judgment in a medical setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain pre-certification for all inpatient admissions and pre-authorization for all outpatient diagnostic tests
- Apply and interpret policies and procedures in a medical setting
- Use independent judgment to make decisions
- Maintain a working knowledge of carrier contracts/changes and departmental policies and procedures
- Analyze information required to complete pre-certifications and/or authorizations
- Enter pre-certification/pre-authorization information into required computer systems in an accurate and timely manner
- Demonstrate effective communication, decision-making, and organizational skills
- Adhere to policies and procedures
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2 years relevant experience
- None required
Physical Demands:
- Sitting for prolonged periods
- Attention to detail
- Able to hear, speak, read, and write legibly
