Job Summary

The Road Home is seeking a compassionate and empathetic Housing Advocate to join our team in serving medically vulnerable individuals experiencing homelessness. As a Housing Advocate, you will play a critical role in providing quality customer service, addressing immediate needs, and connecting clients with resources beyond temporary shelter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to medically vulnerable clients, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Observe and regulate shelter activities, maintaining a safe and clean environment for all residents.
  • Offer clear and specific information to residents, instructing them on shelter rules and procedures while considering their medical conditions.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe facility, identifying special needs, and referring them to supervisors.
  • Answer phones, take messages, and respond to the public, addressing medical concerns and providing support.
  • Operate as part of a team dedicated to serving medically vulnerable individuals in our community.
  • Follow instructions from Shift Supervisors/Leads, prioritizing the unique needs of medically vulnerable clients.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Excellent customer service skills, effective communication, and professionalism in handling difficult situations.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in demanding and unpredictable situations.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Sound decision-making ability, with a focus on health-related considerations.
  • Openness to learning exceptional boundary-setting skills and demonstrating the ability to set and maintain appropriate boundaries with medically vulnerable clients.
  • Cultural responsiveness and the ability to work with clients from diverse racial, socio-economic, and ethnic communities.
  • Desire and ability to work as part of a diverse and dynamic team.
  • Reliability and dependability.
  • Willingness to learn and work from a Trauma-Informed Care framework.
  • Familiarity with the Housing First philosophy.
