Patient Care Technician

The Patient Care Technician is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families. As a Patient Care Technician, you will work closely with our nursing staff to deliver exceptional patient care, ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist registered nurses and licensed practical nurses with non-nursing tasks, such as crash cart checks, quality control checks, and retrieving equipment and supplies.
- Provide routine patient care and treatment, including vital signs, intake and output, pain level assessment, and administering enemas and hot/cold packs.
- Recognize and practice within the scope of certification and competency levels, and relay any questions, concerns, or situations requiring follow-up or attention to the supervising RN/LPN.
- Effectively communicate pertinent information in shift-to-shift and transfer reports, and document items in EPIC as indicated.
- Perform 15-minute patient checks and belonging checks.
- High school diploma or GED and completion of an approved State Registered Nursing Assistant Program, such as SRNA, STNA, CNA, or other state.
- Holds current certification as a State Registered Nursing Assistant (SRNA) in the State of Kentucky.
- Accepts Ohio STNA, WV CNA, and other State Registered Nursing Assistant/Aide Certifications if transferred to KY SRNA prior to hire date.
- Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Achieves and maintains Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) within 90 days of start.
Our healthcare team works in a fast-paced environment with constant exposure to blood and/or body fluids and infection. We also work with toxic or caustic chemicals, radiation, and moderate noise levels.
Physical DemandsOur Patient Care Technicians are required to maintain a stationary position, walk and move about, operate a computer and other equipment, and use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices. They must also be able to lift and/or move items up to 10, 50, and 100 pounds, and communicate with patients and other care team members requiring talking and hearing.
