Position Summary:

This role necessitates a US Department of Defense or Intelligence SECRET clearance.

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with comprehensive expertise in Kubernetes, deployment automation tools (such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar), and environment-agnostic deployment practices, as well as familiarity with US Federal Government Risk Management Frameworks. The selected candidate will be tasked with deploying our solutions in government environments while ensuring compliance with security standards and maintaining the availability, performance, and integrity of our services. Collaboration with other Federal DevOps Engineers and the Yurts Platform DevOps and Engineering teams will be essential to enhance deployment efficiency and configurability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy the Yurts product within US government computing environments utilizing Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes/Docker, and associated technologies.
  • Design, implement, and maintain an installer for our software across various customer environments.
  • Create automation scripts for provisioning, monitoring, backing up, patching, and deploying the Yurts product and its underlying services.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for Authorization to Operate (ATO), Certification to Field (CTF), and other security requirements dictated by US Government Risk Management Frameworks (RMF).
  • Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery capabilities for deployed applications.
  • Establish robust monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to guarantee optimal performance and uptime.
  • Collaborate with product DevOps Engineers to define best practices and company-wide protocols.
  • Work closely with software engineering teams to integrate project deliverables into customer production environments.
  • Diagnose complex system issues and collaborate with customers, partners, and internal development teams to identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions that enhance value and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to security best practices and policies.
  • Contribute to the development of the company's strategic IT roadmap.
  • Be prepared to travel up to 25% for customer engagements, company events, and conferences.

Qualifications:

  • An active US Department of Defense or Intelligence SECRET clearance, with a willingness to obtain a TS/SCI if necessary.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a DevOps or DevSecOps role, or a comparable software engineering position.
  • Extensive experience leading application deployments to AWS, Azure, and/or Oracle Cloud environments, as well as on-premises data centers.
  • Proficient in delivering software across multiple environments using Ansible or similar automation and configuration management tools.
  • Strong background in containerization and orchestration technologies, particularly Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, etc., and a willingness to learn and adopt new tools.
  • Experience in deploying rapidly evolving software and maintaining a flexible deployment strategy to facilitate rapid iteration.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, partner vendors, end users, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in writing and utilizing infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar).
  • Familiarity with databases, both SQL and NoSQL, and related data structures.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Experience in developing deployment systems for rapidly evolving applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  • An active US Department of Defense or Intelligence TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience with containerization and deployment of Machine Learning models.
  • Experience in deploying commercial software products in government environments.
  • Experience in startup settings.
