Job Summary

The Dr. Vivian Lee laboratory in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Research Technician II to join our team. As a key member of the Department of Pediatrics and the Division of Cardiology, our lab focuses on understanding the genetic determinants of cardiovascular development and disease. We utilize cutting-edge genome editing techniques to model human disease in cell culture and mouse models, aiming to uncover the molecular mechanisms contributing to cardiovascular pathogenesis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and organize lab resources, operations, and new member onboarding to ensure efficient and sustainable lab function.
  • Perform a variety of laboratory techniques, including mammalian cell culture, cloning, nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qRT-PCR, immunoblotting, and immunohistochemistry.
  • Record and maintain an organized lab notebook.
  • Present findings in small group meetings and at national and international meetings when appropriate.
  • Provide technical support to senior lab members while maintaining the lab.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with major coursework in a relevant field and no experience required.
  • Two years of college with emphasis in coursework in a relevant field and two years of laboratory experience at the level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent.
  • High school graduation or GED and four years of laboratory experience, including two years at the level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent.
