Job Title: Paramedic Driver

Join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital as a Paramedic Driver, where you will play a critical role in providing transportation and support to our Transport Program and fleet of ambulances.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the safety of fleet, cargo, and passengers in accordance with hospital guidelines.
  • Assist with the planning of transport team activities in accordance with established written guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide cleaning and minor maintenance, daily inspection, daily shift briefings, inventory, cleaning, and documentation for department and state requirements.
  • Continually evaluate methods of practice, recommend changes and modifications to improve the department and patient outcomes.
  • Actively participate in unit committees and projects to assure daily operation and growth of the Transport Program.
  • Function as a resource to referral staff, Nationwide Children's staff, and the community.
  • Assist team with patient care as defined in scope of practice and in accordance with Transport Team protocols.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy.
  • Certified by the State of Ohio as an EMT-P (Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic).
  • Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) or equivalent, preferred.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation, sensitivity, leadership, interpersonal skills, teaching ability, organization, high level of critical thinking, and decision making.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and basic computer knowledge.
  • 1 year experience driving emergency vehicles, required.
Work Environment:

The Paramedic Driver will work in a fast-paced environment, providing transportation and support to patients and families. The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The Paramedic Driver will be required to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, and weekends. On-call hours are mandatory, and the driver will be required to maintain a high level of physical fitness and be able to lift up to 165 lbs. or greater with assistance.

The Paramedic Driver will be expected to maintain a professional demeanor and provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and staff.
