Job Summary

The Critical Care Paramedic is a highly skilled emergency medical services professional responsible for providing expert pre-hospital care and transportation for patients in critical condition. This role requires a strong foundation in advanced life support and critical care principles, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced pre-hospital care and transportation for patients in critical condition
  • Model a safety-first culture and deliver best-in-class patient care and customer service
  • Serve as an operational and clinical team leader on emergency medical incidents
  • Participate in ongoing education and in-service training to stay current with medical, trauma, and behavioral emergencies
Requirements
  • Paramedic diploma or degree from a college or university
  • Tennessee Licensed Critical Care Paramedic
  • BLS certification at time of employment
  • ACLS and PALS certifications within six months of employment
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) within six months of employment
  • Associates Degree Preferred
  • Valid driver's license in the state of residency; must be insurable
Work Environment

The Critical Care Paramedic will work in a potentially high-risk environment, performing duties indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. The role requires the ability to work in emergency vehicles, including ambulances, and to handle patients with a wide range of medical conditions and emotional states.

Physical Effort

The Critical Care Paramedic must be able to utilize devices for patient movement, including ambulance stretchers, and to carry patients and equipment over varying distances and terrain. The role also requires the ability to walk, crawl, stand, sit, climb, stoop, run, and kneel to access patients.
