Job Summary

As an Environmental Services Technician 2 Parking at CAMC Health System, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in the assigned area of the hospital. This includes dust mopping and wet mopping hard floor surfaces with disinfectant solution, completing proper cleaning and disinfection procedures, and interacting with patients and their environment while performing duties.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in the assigned area of the hospital.
2. Dust mop and wet mop hard floor surfaces with disinfectant solution according to department floor maintenance procedures.
3. Complete proper cleaning and disinfection procedures according to assignments and/or area.
4. Interact with patients and patient environment while performing duties.
5. Remove waste following proper Waste Handling and Waste Removal procedures and safety protocols.
6. Engage with department goals for improvement of quality, including feedback and knowledge of current status of measured goals.
7. Remove wax finish from hard floor surfaces, reapply wax finish to hard floor surfaces according to department floor maintenance procedures.
8. Buff hard floor surfaces to maintain appearance.
9. Vacuum carpet using conventional vacuum cleaner or large industrial vacuum cleaner.
10. Buff carpet as required per predetermined schedules and areas not scheduled as requested.
11. Extract carpet/furniture as required per predetermined schedule and areas not scheduled as requested.
12. Have knowledge and skill to determine what supplies are needed and how to use requested cleaning supplies.
13. Use iPod applications for patient room discharge cleaning to report timely for patient flow system.
14. Report equipment repairs needed and clean equipment after use upon return to the department.
15. Set up meeting rooms per request of schedule.
16. Perform duties as required for Environmental Services Tech responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1. Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact): The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically, the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

2. Competency Statement: Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.

3. Common Duties and Responsibilities (Essential duties common to all positions): 1. Maintain and document all applicable required education. 2. Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations. 3. Comply with the company's attendance policy. 4. Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution. 5. Perform work in a cost-effective manner. 6. Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations. 7. Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization. 8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable. 9. Perform related duties as assigned.
