Job Summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Mission Critical team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and coordinating high, medium, and low voltage electrical distribution and control systems for mission critical, healthcare, and industrial sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical systems/equipment to provide a safe and reliable environment for mission critical facilities.
  • Advise clients on electrical systems/requirements to meet their needs and comply with applicable codes.
  • Monitor installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with design documents.
  • Conduct fault studies and load flow analysis, and develop design criteria for protective device coordination, relay applications, medium voltage transformers, switchgear, medium and low voltage distribution.
  • Develop and/or lead the design of electrical master plans for facilities, including reliable power distribution, motor control centers, energy-efficient lighting systems, communications and telecom routing, instrumentation and controls for HVAC systems, fire-alarm interface, building level uninterrupted power systems (UPS) systems, engine generators.
  • Review electrical designs and specifications of equipment or systems being purchased or fabricated.
  • Provide electrical design direction and resource management on multi-discipline projects.
  • Develop concept studies, designs, and narratives.
  • Participate in the identification, recruiting, and management of resources to meet the needs of the business.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • Or Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering a plus.
  • 7 years electrical engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.
  • Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members.
  • Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
  • Ability to travel.

Compensation Range:

$155,000 - $215,000

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations.

The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
