Special Education Teacher

United Cerebral Palsy of Central Florida Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher - Visually Impaired to join our team. As a key member of our educational services department, you will play a vital role in empowering students with visual impairments to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret medical eye reports to inform educational planning and provide direct and/or consultative special education services to students with visual impairments.
- Contribute to the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans, recommending goals, modifications, and accommodations to ensure students' needs are met.
- Provide screening and referral procedures to identify students who require specialized services and consult with diagnosticians, classroom teachers, students, and parents to develop effective support plans.
- Stay up-to-date with modifications and accommodations for classroom and statewide testing, ensuring students with visual impairments have equal access to educational opportunities.
- Collaborate with other agencies and professionals to provide vocational assessments and support students with visual impairments in achieving their career goals.
- Develop and implement assistive technology strategies to enhance students' independence and social integration.
- Provide training and support to parents and educators on issues related to visual impairments, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive educational environment.
- Participate in transition planning and work with students, parents, and educators to develop strategies for successful post-secondary education and employment.

Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Exceptional Education or Elementary Education.
- Florida Statement of Eligibility or Professional Teaching Certificate.
- Minimum 1-3 years of teaching experience, including internship.
- Experience working with students with visual impairments and other disabilities.
- Knowledge of Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP), early childhood development, and the learning process.
- Ability to work cooperatively with parents, staff, and other professionals to ensure students' needs are met.
