Job Summary

At Meta, we're pushing the boundaries of what's possible with augmented reality and virtual reality. As a Product Design Engineer, you'll play a critical role in developing innovative hardware systems that bring our vision to life. You'll work closely with a cross-functional team to design, prototype, and manufacture cutting-edge consumer electronics that meet the needs of our users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical design for key components, features, or systems, with a deep understanding of the end-to-end product development process.
  • Contribute to mechanical solutions as part of a highly collaborative team, leveraging your expertise in design for manufacturability, assembly, and testing.
  • Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping product, collaborating with teams in Asia and around the world.
  • Pursue state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problems, working closely with cross-functional technical teams.
  • Travel to external vendors up to 20% to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
Requirements
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in mechanical design, with a strong background in design for manufacturability, assembly, and testing.
  • Experience with NX CAD, as well as other 3D/2D CAD tools.
  • Working knowledge of material properties, including plastics, metal, adhesive, and glass.
  • Testing and analysis experience, including FEA, simulation, design of experiments, and statistical tolerance analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques, including stamping, machining, 3D printing, injection molding, and more.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of product design and development experience in handheld and/or wearable high-volume consumer electronics, including complex subsystems and/or full systems ownership.
  • Experience with highly cosmetic products and working with industrial design.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese.
  • Experience designing for human factors and designing and shipping products with Asia-based supply chains.
  • MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
Compensation and Benefits
