Job Overview

Hillis-Carnes Capitol Services, PLLC is a top-tier, multi-disciplined, employee-owned engineering firm seeking motivated candidates to fill Entry-level or Senior-level Engineering Technician roles in our Washington, DC office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field observations and testing of construction materials, including soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, reinforcing steel, and sprayed-on fireproofing.
  • Report findings to project teams verbally and/or in writing.
  • Collaborate with senior staff members on various projects as needed.
  • Promote a safe work environment and proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Complete necessary certifications (company-paid) to perform testing and inspection tasks.

Requirements:

  • High School degree or GED equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Geology a plus).
  • Valid certifications (ACI, AWS, ICC, NICET, NRCA, etc.) are a plus and result in higher starting pay.
  • Ability to meet pre-employment criteria, including a motor vehicle record.
  • Provide a suitable personal vehicle for use on job sites (mileage reimbursed).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Interest in working outdoors on construction sites.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds.
