The Direct Support Professional works as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional quality of service and provide suitable activities in a safe and healthy environment within the home and community setting.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Clients with Daily Living Skills: Assist clients with basic living skills and daily personal tasks, including showers, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and financial budgeting.
- Transportation Services: Provide transportation to and from activities and appointments as needed, requiring a valid Arkansas driver's license.
- Communication and Documentation: Maintain good communication via appropriate means between staff regarding clients' needs and progress toward their plan of care by the end of the shift. Accurately complete all required documentation, including behavioral reports, incident reports, compliant forms, personal care work sheets, requisitions, maintenance forms, progress reports, and monthly attendance logs.
- Vehicle Maintenance and Compliance: Strictly follow and complete necessary documentation and maintenance of records as required for FTA vehicles and maintain all mileage/billing forms in compliance with Medicaid guidelines.
- Incident Reporting and Emergency Response: Report incidents and/or emergencies to the supervisor or delegated authority immediately. This is a safety-sensitive position.
- Client Plan of Care: Assist in the formulation, management, revision, and follow-through of the clients' Plan of Care to ensure that treatment is carried out and good health, safety, and security are prioritized.
- Medication Management: Follow proper medication management guidelines and assist in the monitoring and documentation of these procedures.
- Recreational Activities: Organize and carry out recreational activities for clients.
- Professional Conduct: Maintain a professional demeanor, adhering to the company's dress code and representing the organization's mission in all interactions.
- Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of all information received regarding Friendship Community Care, Inc., Senior Center Programs, and clients, in compliance with the company's Non-Disclosure Policy and HIPAA Policies.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two+ years of experience working with developmentally disabled individuals. Must also have a valid driver's license.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
