Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional at Friendship Community Care is responsible for providing superior quality of service and support to clients in a safe and healthy environment. This role is part of an interdisciplinary team that delivers activities and care in the home and community setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with basic living skills and daily personal tasks, including showers, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and financial budgeting.
  • Provide transportation to and from activities and appointments as needed, requiring a valid Arkansas driver's license.
  • Maintain good communication with staff regarding client needs and progress toward their plan of care.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation, including behavioral reports, incident reports, and progress reports.
  • Follow proper medication management guidelines and assist in monitoring and documenting these procedures.
  • Organize and carry out recreational activities for clients.
  • Represent Friendship Community Care with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Assist in maintaining FCC facilities and grounds, keeping them clean, orderly, and functioning.
  • Attend necessary training and continuing education.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two+ years experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with state minimum liability insurance.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Work Environment:

The work environment is typically moderate, with a focus on providing quality care and support to clients. This is a safety-sensitive position, requiring the ability to pass background checks, drug screens, and maintain a clean driving record.
