Cardiovascular Catheterization Technologist

The Cath Lab Technologist plays a vital role in the cardiovascular catheterization laboratory, engaging in various specialized tasks. This position involves operating advanced radiographic fluoroscopic equipment to conduct both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Assist physicians, technologists, and nursing staff to foster a welcoming and efficient environment in the laboratory.
- Participate in a shared call rotation, adhering to flexible shift schedules.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and relevant regulatory standards.
This is a permanent position with a Monday to Friday schedule, comprising 8-hour shifts from 7 AM to 3:30 PM. The role includes a minimum of 8 shifts per month, with 1-2 weekends required.
Call and CompensationWhen called in, there is a minimum pay guarantee of 2 hours.
Caseload and ProceduresThe Cath Lab handles over 30 scheduled cases weekly, including procedures such as:
- Transcarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR)
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) interventions
- Peripheral vascular procedures
- Pacemaker and Defibrillator placements
- Right and Left Heart Catheterizations
- ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) interventions
- Stroke management
Applicants must possess one of the following certifications:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT)
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
- National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
- Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Additional requirements include:
- BLS certification on the first day or assigned by the Learning Center
- ACLS certification within 3 months of hire
- A minimum of one year of experience in diagnostic and interventional procedures in a cardiac or general catheterization laboratory
- Experience in digital and cine imaging and archiving
Required proficiencies for this role include:
- X-ray operation
- Monitoring techniques
- Scrubbing practices
