Job Summary

MERJENT, INC. is seeking an Environmental Permitting Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for managing and permitting utility infrastructure projects in Pennsylvania.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with project managers to manage utility infrastructure projects for clients operating in Pennsylvania.
  • Review and prepare permit applications for federal, state, and local authorizations, including wetland and waterway crossings, protected species and cultural resources impacts, erosion control/storm water control, and floodplain zoning impacts.
  • Ensure clients and projects receive effective environmental guidance, obtain necessary permits and approvals, and remain in compliance with laws and regulations applicable in Pennsylvania.
  • Coordinate with internal project teams and/or subcontractors to complete necessary resource reviews.
  • Provide schedule and cost estimates for project work and meet those expectations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of utility-focused environmental permitting experience in Pennsylvania, including demonstrated success working with federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Strong self-starter tendencies and excellent organizational/task management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, adapt quickly, and work well under pressure.
  • Excellent oral communication and technical writing skills.
