Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, the Sheriff's Security Officer is responsible for:

  • Enforcing security protocols to protect County and contracted properties.
  • Conducting regular patrols to ensure the safety of buildings and grounds.
  • Utilizing communication equipment effectively during operations.
  • Preparing detailed reports on incidents and activities.
  • Administering basic first aid when necessary.

Required Knowledge and Skills

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Understanding of fundamental law enforcement principles.
  • Proficiency in operating communication devices such as radios and telephones.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and laws.
  • Skills in report writing and documentation.
  • Basic first aid knowledge.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Completion of a basic training course as mandated by law enforcement standards.
- Certification in the use of a baton or club, or equivalent training.

Additional Requirements

- Successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting.
- Passing a medical examination and psychological evaluation prior to appointment.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Willingness to wear a designated uniform.
- Valid California Driver License, Class C or higher, is required.
- Flexibility to work various hours, including weekends and holidays.

Probationary Period
The initial probationary period for this position is twelve (12) months.
