We are a dedicated software development team focused on implementing and testing solutions for Positive Train Control (PTC), a sophisticated real-time messaging safety system.

Our team develops and tests both server-side and client-side .NET applications, including ASP.NET websites and embedded Linux software.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Quality Assurance (QA) Lead.

Your primary responsibility will be to enhance the quality of our software products.

This encompasses, but is not limited to, designing and executing both manual and automated tests, troubleshooting software issues, and performing limited software configuration management tasks, such as:

- Creating and deploying software builds
- Monitoring and maintaining lab infrastructure
- Providing limited lab and production support
- Documenting QA processes
- Engaging in various Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) activities.

A significant portion of your responsibilities will involve manual testing at the user interface level.

Our software development cycle is hybrid, and you will frequently be required to assist in identifying requirements, user stories, and designing corresponding test cases.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, technically intricate environment.

While overtime is rare, most work is expected to be conducted in the office and/or labs.

Candidates should be present in the office during core hours (8 am - 5 pm) as we manage and test equipment in our labs, and developers adhere to the same schedule to support our initiatives.

Essential Qualifications:

- A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in software quality assurance, including the development and execution of test plans and test cases.
- At least 3 years of experience in writing manual test cases for and testing desktop applications, such as client websites.
- Extensive experience with the MS Office Suite.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting issues, including analyzing logs for errors and message flows.
- Experience working in a medium documentation, high productivity team environment.

- A collaborative team player who actively engages with colleagues and seeks assistance when necessary.

- Experience in creating and reviewing new test cases, executing tests, and managing software defects.
- Proven ability to suggest and implement improvements to QA processes.
- A dynamic self-starter capable of excelling with minimal supervision.

We are seeking an individual who can proactively plan testing by engaging various stakeholders and developers, researching requirements or other information sources, designing and executing tests, and reporting results effectively, with or without additional support, to significantly enhance software quality.

Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills are crucial.

Preferred Experience:

- Familiarity with configuration management (e.g., Trunk/main branches).
- SQL experience, particularly with MS-SQL.
- Experience with SharePoint.
- Knowledge of railroad systems.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps (ADO).
- Experience with embedded Linux.
- Knowledge of UFT automation.

Educational Background:

Candidates are preferred to hold a bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Candidates without such a degree but possessing sufficient professional technical experience may also be considered, although a degree is preferred.

Education: Bachelor's Degree
