Job Summary

Patient Dining Associates play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care by delivering personalized dining experiences. As part of the caregiving team, they work on assigned units in a healthcare facility, ensuring that meals are accurate, delivered at the right time, and meet the patient's nutritional requirements or restrictions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with patients to understand their menu selections and work with nursing to ensure compliance with nutritional requirements or restrictions.
  • Work with the caregiving and culinary teams to determine menu alternatives for patients with food allergies, sensitivities, cultural, ethnic, or religious preferences.
  • Manage tray tickets, assemble meals, and retrieve trays from patient rooms in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO, and adhere to facility confidentiality and patient rights policies.
  • Follow Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines when handling food, cleaning workstations, and breaking down patient tray lines.
  • Assist dietitians in monitoring patients who require special diets or have specific calorie counts.
  • Communicate problems or concerns with patients to appropriate personnel in a timely manner, following department procedures.
  • Complete daily, weekly, or monthly reports as outlined in Morrison Healthcare policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English.
  • Basic computer and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds and maneuver food delivery carts.
