The Culinary Specialist is responsible for preparing appetizing and appropriately portioned meals for all residents and visitors, adhering to production guidelines, standardized recipes, and sanitary practices.
Key Responsibilities:
The following outlines the primary duties and responsibilities associated with this role, listed in order of significance:
- The Culinary Specialist prepares menu items for residents, guests, and staff, following the Food Production guidelines and accommodating modified diets as directed by the Consulting Dietitian.
- During meal service, the specialist serves food from the production line, ensuring adherence to portion sizes and presentation standards.
- Maintaining a clean and sanitized workstation is essential, and additional cleaning tasks may be assigned as needed.
- Proper storage and labeling of food orders and supplies is a critical responsibility.
- In the absence of staff, the specialist may be required to perform utility-related tasks.
- Participation in training sessions with colleagues is encouraged to stay updated on nutrition and dietary requirements.
Qualifications:
The following qualifications are preferred but not mandatory:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Capability to adhere to dietary instructions and menus, with knowledge of basic food preparation methods and seasoning.
- A general understanding of routine diets or the ability to locate necessary information is required.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils is essential for optimal performance.
