Job Title: Senior Project Engineer - Heavy Civil/Bridges

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our team at Sterling Infrastructure, Inc. in Lompoc, CA.

About the Role:

The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for assisting Project Superintendents in ensuring project contractor performance ratings above 90 percent. This includes assisting in public relations, claims, subcontractor back charges, and force account work. The successful candidate will also be responsible for processing all documents required to start-up projects, coordinating with subcontractors, and updating and maintaining C.P.M. under the direction of the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Project Superintendents in ensuring project contractor performance ratings above 90 percent
  • Assist in public relations, claims, subcontractor back charges, and force account work
  • Process all documents required to start-up projects
  • Coordinate with subcontractors
  • Update and maintain C.P.M. under the direction of the Project Manager
  • Schedule survey and inspections for field operations
  • Update and maintain as-Built drawings if required
  • Track quantities to ensure accurate payment by Owner
  • Manage Blue Stakes
  • Review budgets and adjust job costing
  • Manage change order correspondence and tracking
  • Assist and ensure timely and accurate Project close outs
  • Act as a company liaison with Project Owner and all Subcontractors
  • Prepare RFI's, submittals and transmittals, change order log and serial letters timely and accurately
  • Track project expenses and records them in Heavy Job/Viewpoint on a weekly basis
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College, technical school or university in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 4+ years of project engineer experience with in commercial construction company
  • 4+ years of project engineer experience with technical tasks (collect, connect and report on multiple data points daily and reconcile reports, tracking quantities, RFIs, Change orders, etc.)
  • 2+ years (preferably) engineer experience with deep foundations / pile and shoring
  • Knowledge of field concepts, practices, procedures pertaining to commercial construction
  • Be self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision and as a team player
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meeting tight, multiple, and sometimes conflicting deadlines
