Job Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment within the hospital. The successful candidate will perform daily and project cleaning in patient areas, non-patient areas, offices, departments, and corridors. They will utilize cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, buffing machines, cleaning carts, large and small wet mops, and other necessary tools. Additionally, they will clean blood and body fluids when performing duties, move furniture, collect linen and trash throughout the hospital, and perform other tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily cleaning of patient rooms, ancillary areas, corridors, offices, and other hospital areas.
  • Sanitize horizontal surfaces, walls, furniture, floors, bathrooms, etc.
  • Wash walls, ceiling tile grids, doors, baseboards, windows, stairwells, and vents.
  • Clean stairwells and elevators.
  • Dust and damp mop floors in corridors, entrances, stairwells, and other areas assigned.
  • Collect trash, infectious waste, and recyclables from all areas within the hospital and transport to designated sites.
  • Perform dismissal cleaning following patient discharge and transfer.
  • Perform vacuuming and cleaning of carpeting.
  • Check supplies and replenish as needed.
  • Collect and transport linen (cleaned and soiled) to designated areas.
  • Move equipment, furniture, and assist in setting up meeting rooms.
  • Assist in cleaning of emergency spills, including blood and bodily fluids.
  • Perform specialized cleaning for precautions rooms, labor and delivery, and surgery.
  • Change and launder or clean curtains, blinds, draperies, and shower curtains.
  • Properly understand and utilize cleaning chemicals required to perform job duties.
  • Turn in lost and found items to immediate supervisor or office coordinator.
  • Report any mechanical failures or negative conditions as observed in assigned area for preparation of work order for maintenance.
  • Supply and equipment are kept clean and orderly.
  • Attend department in-service training and educational programs.
  • Perform any other tasks which may be assigned.
