Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Female Community Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the organization and execution of recreational programs tailored for the tribal community. This role includes maintaining the safety and functionality of the recreational facilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position is based at the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe Gymnasium and Community Center.

REPORTING STRUCTURE: Reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time/Permanent with benefits.

SALARY RANGE: $18.00 per hour

WORKING HOURS: Tuesday to Saturday, with specific hours from Tuesday to Friday 12:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., totaling 40 hours per week, including a 30-minute lunch break.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Design and implement recreational activities for community members across various age groups.
  • Prepare facilities for scheduled events, which may include evening and weekend shifts.
  • Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the facility, including daily opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the gymnasium, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning restrooms and locker rooms.
  • Oversee routine maintenance of recreational vehicles, ensuring cleanliness inside and out.
  • Monitor and supervise recreational events.
  • Promote upcoming events within the community.
  • Assist in the upkeep and inventory management of sports equipment.
  • Perform clerical tasks as necessary, including responding to inquiries about events.
  • Support the training of staff in event management and safety protocols.
  • Document incidents, injuries, and accidents as required.
  • Supervise children and young adults during activities.
  • Complete assigned tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license with insurability.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong clerical and organizational skills, including typing and basic computer proficiency.
  • Experience working with youth and community members.
  • Knowledge of safe cleaning practices when using chemicals.
  • Pass a background check as per organizational policy.
  • Undergo UA testing prior to employment.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to varying work schedules, including evenings and weekends.
  • Dependable with consistent attendance.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and effectively.
  • Capable of working under pressure.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of performing tasks that require sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Requires manual dexterity and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to transport youth as needed.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  • Compliance with Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe personnel policies and drug/alcohol policies is mandatory.
