Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at East Orient Elementary School. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive environment for our students, staff, and community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance of school facilities, including classrooms, offices, and grounds.
  • Follow a cleaning schedule and ensure energy conservation practices are in use.
  • Arrange furnishings and equipment to prepare spaces for internal and community group activities and events.
  • Identify and report any unsafe and damaged school building conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe manner and perform minor repairs to structures and maintain equipment.
  • Secure facilities and grounds to minimize property damage, loss, and liability exposure.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior job-related experience in a school or institutional setting.
  • Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse communities.
  • Knowledge of and skill in methods and use of cleaning materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and perform a variety of tasks and adjust to flexible assignments.
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods, climb stairs and ladders, and use arms, wrists, and hands in repetitive movements. The ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds or move by pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds may also be required on occasion.
