Job Summary

The Gresham-Barlow School District is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Lead to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive environment for our students, staff, and community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance of school facilities, including classrooms, offices, multipurpose rooms, and grounds.
  • Develop and implement a cleaning schedule to ensure a high level of cleanliness and organization.
  • Arrange furnishings and equipment to prepare spaces for internal and community group activities and events.
  • Identify and report any unsafe or damaged school building conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Operate all equipment, including lifts and ladders, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform minor repairs to structures and maintain equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Secure facilities and grounds to minimize property damage, loss, and liability.
  • Evaluate situations and take appropriate action to resolve issues or direct them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Deliver various items, such as supplies, mail, packages, and furniture, to the appropriate parties.
  • Support the relationship between the school and the community by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with parents, community members, and other school visitors.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior job-related experience in a school or institutional setting.
  • Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Methods and use of cleaning materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Adhering to safe work practices.
  • Using cleaning agents, supplies, and equipment.
  • Operating computer programs and applications.
  • Communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Understanding and carrying out verbal and written instructions.
  • Performing basic math to calculate accurate dilution of cleaning agents.
  • Working from heights of up to 30 feet.
  • Functioning as a self-starter, working well independently or in a team.
  • Working independently with minimal supervision, performing a variety of tasks and adjusting to flexible assignments often with short notice.
  • Handling multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Developing effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
  • Interacting with persons of different age groups and cultural backgrounds.
Working Conditions
  • Maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
  • Maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding information relating to students, staff, and district operations.
  • Dressing in a professional and appropriate manner for the assignment and work setting.
  • Exercising prudent judgment.
  • Working independently in the performance of routine duties.
  • Following all District policies and work procedures.
  • Utilizing the District's electronics systems and applications only for purposes related to the position.
  • Participating in required meetings and trainings related to the position.
  • Cultivating and modeling a respectful working and learning environment.
