Senior Structural Engineer Job Description

SmithGroup is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Boston, MA. As a key member of our structural engineering team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise on large and complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead structural engineering teams on large and complex projects
  • Perform structural analysis, design, and documentation of buildings, site structures, and architectural features
  • Develop innovative planning and design concepts for projects through collaboration with architectural design leaders
  • Manage and monitor structural and budget performance of projects
  • Revise, review, and coordinate construction documents to meet project requirements
  • Lead quality assurance reviews of projects developed by other teams
  • Direct and manage team's construction administration, including site visits and representation of the owner in reviewing completed work
  • Prepare presentation drawings and assist in developing proposal materials
  • Supervise, mentor, and train Structural Engineers, CAD/Structural techs, interns, and junior staff

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering or equivalent
  • 15+ years of structural and civil engineering experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with team members in other disciplines, consultants, and clients
  • Working knowledge of the design and construction process, project administration, and administration procedures
  • Proficiency with Structural Analysis Programs and the Microsoft Office Suite, experience with CAD and/or REVIT is a plus
