Job Description

Road Machinery & Supplies Co. is seeking a skilled Regional Credit and Collections Specialist to join its team. In this position, you will work closely with various departments to establish new accounts and maintain existing customer relationships. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure timely payments and monitor credit limits to enable customers to continue doing business with Road Machinery & Supplies Co. and its affiliated companies.

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collection of past due amounts:
    • Monitor AR reports.
    • Communicate with customers to ensure prompt payment.
    • Negotiate settlement and repayment plans.
    • Coordinate with other departments to resolve collection issues.
    • Filing of lien and bond claims as required.
    • Collaboration with collection agencies and attorneys to optimize collection results.
  • Approval and processing of new accounts:
    • Obtain credit reports and reference information.
    • Set credit limits and terms based on customer creditworthiness.
    • Enter new account information into the system.
    • Notify relevant departments of new account approvals and terms.
  • Credit sales control:
    • Monitor credit limits and adjust as necessary.
    • Approve all rental transactions.
    • Authorize credit from all departments for sales above established credit limits.
    • Update customer credit reports to reflect any changes.
  • Account maintenance:
    • Enter new accounts into the system.
    • Update account information, such as addresses and phone numbers.
    • Process miscellaneous adjustments to accounts receivable.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience in credit and collections preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues.
  • Experience with credit reports, financial statements, and trade references.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Able to work responsibly, safely, and intelligently.
  • Desire to take action, improve, and appreciate.
  • Ability to engage with customers, colleagues, and vendors in a respectful manner.
