Job Title: Director, Trading Engineering

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Director, Trading Engineering to join our team at Fidelity Digital Assets. As a key member of our Trading Team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing high-quality, timely, and maintainable software solutions in an agile environment. This role involves partner and stakeholder engagement, design, and release support. You will work closely with our business partners to contribute to business-critical initiatives and demonstrate software engineering excellence through continuous integration and continuous deployment.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Designing and implementing technology solutions for the Fidelity Digital Assets business
  • Developing high-performance algorithms for trading and crypto trading
  • Collaborating with business partners to contribute to business-critical initiatives
  • Demonstrating software engineering excellence through continuous integration and continuous deployment
  • Staying current with IT blueprint, frameworks, and technologies that benefit the company and improving productivity
  • Guiding junior team members on technology and collaborating with multiple stakeholders and large cross-functional teams
  • Following best practices and contributing to innovative solutions to increase productivity
  • This is a hands-on role where you will write code for product features
  • Setting technical direction for software developers by concluding design with other tech leads and architecture


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required
  • At least 12 years of software engineering experience
  • Strong background in designing and developing low-latency trading systems
  • Knowledge of WebSocket and FIX protocols
  • Experience in building matching engine, OMS/EMS, or exchange-connectivity platform
  • Experience using kernel bypass, such as Solarflare OpenOnLoad
  • Extensive experience with modern Java using zero pattern
  • Highly proficient in ultra-low latency design patterns and optimizing trading systems
  • Hands-on experience with low-latency messaging products, such as Aeron, Solace, or 29West
  • Proficient in SQL and a working knowledge of relational and time-series databases
  • Experience with designing APIs, distributed systems, asynchronous workers, and resilient messaging services
  • An understanding of microservice architecture and cloud-based deployments
  • Ability to build reliable software that can withstand unreliable environments
  • Leadership and mentorship skills across small, agile teams in a collaborative environment
  • Solid analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Interest in and experience with cryptocurrencies and a passion for keeping up-to-date in the space
  • Ability to deliver software with a high degree of automation
  • Proficient with version control systems and handling development for multiple releases in parallel
  • Learning mindset and versatility in addition to specialization
  • Ability to work effectively with partners and project team members
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies or iterative development processes
  • Knowledge of Acceptance test-driven development a plus
  • Ability to take ownership and coach team members
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Great attitude, being a mentor, team player, and effective contributor
  • Focus on productivity
  • Experience in Capital markets or Crypto Currency specifically with exposure to Trading, Algo Trading
