Licensed Practical Nurse II: Oncology Infusion Services

Skills Required: Port access, lab draws from port, peripheral IV access, SQ and IM injections
Position Overview:
Provides nursing care to a designated group of patients in accordance with physician directives, nursing care plans, and the Oklahoma Board of Nursing Scope of Practice.
Collaborates with registered nurses to coordinate patient care. Executes a range of direct and indirect patient care responsibilities, including data collection.Educational Requirements:
Completion of a state-recognized Licensed Practical Nurse program or registered nurse coursework that meets the Board of Nursing's practical nurse equivalency standards.
Licensure and Certification:
Valid State of Oklahoma LPN License.
Experience: 0 - 6 months of relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient understanding of general disease management protocols, bio-psychosocial models, and clinical pathways. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Capacity to organize and prioritize tasks efficiently. Attention to detail is essential for analyzing clinical and numerical data. Competence in IV therapy medication administration as per hospital policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Executes nursing skills suitable for the patient demographic. Exhibits a solid knowledge base relevant to the specialty area, considering the patient's age and bio-psychosocial requirements.
Collects data, implements, and assesses care for an assigned patient group based on physician orders and the Nursing Care Plan.
Accurately records physician orders. Collaborates with Registered Nurse to devise patient care strategies. Maintains accurate documentation of data in the appropriate records. Clearly, consistently, and accurately documents the nursing process and care. Addresses patient issues and monitors progress towards outcomes. Facilitates patient education and implements discharge planning. Makes necessary referrals. Adheres to the care plan per policy while considering patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors. Supports unit and hospital objectives through performance improvement and educational initiatives. Participates in mandatory training sessions and meets unit educational standards. Completes variance reports accurately. Adjusts behaviors or performance to align with care standards and unit expectations.Decision-Making:
Involves executing non-routine procedures under constantly evolving conditions, following general instructions from a supervisor.
Collaborative Relationships:
Guides peers in similar tasks (does not involve supervision). Engages directly with patients and/or clients. Interacts with internal and external stakeholders via phone or face-to-face communication. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and staff.
