POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lead Kitchen Support role is designed to assist and collaborate with Chef Instructors and culinary personnel in all facets of food preparation within the CIA Restaurant.

WORK SCHEDULE
  • Tuesday to Saturday, from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support culinary production through observation and assistance.
  • Help maintain an organized, stocked, and clean kitchen line throughout service.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen at the end of each shift, including storage areas, equipment, and workspaces.
  • Provide assistance to fellow students as required.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Restaurant Manager on scheduling tasks, with necessary guidance and approval.
  • Assist in tracking work hours and addressing missed clock-ins using the designated system, with required approvals.
  • Participate in the training of Tier 1 Dining Room Assistants in conjunction with faculty and staff.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service promptly.
  • Communicate essential information to Chef Instructors and kitchen staff as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining inventories of raw materials and sanitation supplies.
  • Ensure proper usage and maintenance of kitchen equipment and machinery.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding all faculty, staff, student, and guest information.
  • Work collaboratively with team members across departments.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of Restaurant Operations, with a recommendation from Restaurant Staff/Instructor for a lead position.
  • OR, completion of a Restaurant Assistant contract for a minimum of one semester, with approved rehire for a lead role.
SKILL ENHANCEMENT AND LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Demonstrate professionalism while adhering to standards of operational excellence, safety, and educational objectives set by the CIA.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills for effective interaction with guests, students, and faculty/staff.
  • Showcase teamwork and interpersonal skills; adaptability, reliability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual abilities.
Successful candidates must be capable of fulfilling all related responsibilities, which may include working evenings and weekends, the ability to bend, reach, and stand for extended periods, lifting and carrying items up to fifty (50) pounds, and enduring high ambient temperatures.
