Compensation Program Manager

As a key member of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance team, the Compensation Program Manager will lead the design, implementation, and administration of compensation programs to ensure alignment with corporate strategies. This role will consult with business functions on compensation-related topics, including the design and implementation of function-based efforts and enterprise-wide compensation programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of compensation practices and regulations, as well as excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement compensation programs to achieve business objectives
Consult with business functions on compensation-related topics
Ensure compensation programs are administered consistently and fairly across the organization
Partner with Law, Controllers, Compliance, and other teams to analyze and interpret legal, regulatory, and finance/accounting provisions
Lead cross-functional compensation-related design efforts
Serve as a subject matter expert to other compensation and HR professionals
Develop and maintain the Workday system as it relates to compensation content and process
Design, implement, and administer management and office staff compensation programs
Partner in the design, implementation, and administration of compensation programs unique to assigned business areas
Apply expertise for implementation and administration of executive compensation activities
Build strong relationships with business leaders and stakeholders to understand compensation needs and develop solutions
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, human resources, or equivalent degree
Minimum of 8 years of compensation experience, including demonstrated success designing, modifying, and consulting on compensation programs
Strong business acumen, including knowledge of current and future practices, trends, and information affecting the business and organization
Diverse background supporting distinct business units as a compensation professional
Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge across complex business areas with exceptional analytical and mathematical skills
Proven ability to build strong relationships with people at all levels of the organization and influence without authority
Excellent consulting skills, including business acumen, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated application of specific consulting skills
Strong ability to consult in a cross-functional environment at all levels within the organization
Proven success in dealing with ambiguous situations and working with diverse stakeholders
