Job Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathology Paraprofessional will provide speech-language therapy services to students identified with a variety of needs and disabilities according to each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) under the direction of a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in speech-language screenings and perform documented tasks developed by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
• Document student's progress toward IEP goals and objectives, and prepare materials for therapy sessions.
• Participate in IEP meetings and work with students individually or in groups to provide speech-language therapy services.
• Maintain accurate records and reports of student progress and therapy sessions.

Requirements:

• Graduate of a Speech-Language Paraprofessional program with an associate's or bachelor's degree and a Certificate of Completion in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction, Office of Special Education.
• Experience in a school setting preferred, with basic academic and computer skills, and excellent human relations and communications skills.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

The job requires frequent sitting, walking, and standing, with occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively is essential, as well as the ability to maintain mental capacity and interact effectively with others.

Evaluation and Benefits:

Job performance will be evaluated by the Supervising Teacher and Building Administrator. Employees who work 30 hours or more per week are eligible for health insurance and other voluntary benefits.
