Position Overview:
The Director of Assessment plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape by reporting directly to the Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, Research, and Planning. This position is essential for orchestrating comprehensive assessment initiatives across the institution, focusing on both academic and non-academic domains. The Director is tasked with developing and managing a robust framework for the collection and dissemination of assessment data, ensuring that faculty, staff, and administrators are well-informed and equipped to enhance institutional effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement strategic, institution-wide assessment programs aimed at evaluating student learning and achievement.
  • Collaborate with academic programs to create assessment plans that align with educational objectives and goals.
  • Provide constructive feedback on assessment plans and progress through the review of coordinator reports.
  • Facilitate coordination of assessment data among academic and support service personnel.
  • Enhance operational effectiveness through the development of professional development goals and procedures, in partnership with the Center for Teaching, Learning & Innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards related to assessment and educational effectiveness.
  • Promote academic assessment and student learning improvement through outreach efforts, including training and resource development.
  • Analyze program accreditation data to assist in continuous improvement and identify opportunities for expanding student learning.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing assessment findings in collaboration with Institutional Research.
  • Support institutional decision-making by providing assessment information to college leadership in alignment with strategic goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in higher education, encompassing program development, curriculum management, and assessment.
  • Three years of supervisory experience in an academic setting.
  • Five years of teaching experience at an accredited institution.
  • In-depth knowledge of accreditation processes at state, regional, and national levels.
  • Experience with Program Review and Evaluation.
  • Proficiency in using Student Information Systems, with a preference for Banner, including database design and data analysis.
  • Experience in facilitating workshops and seminars on assessment for faculty and staff.
  • Strong analytical capabilities for organizing and interpreting large datasets.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and statistical analysis tools (Excel, SPSS, SQL, etc.).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and staff across the institution.
  • Experience with academic program and institutional accreditation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree in education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Six or more years of experience in higher education, including program development and assessment.
  • Four or more years of supervisory experience in an academic program.
  • Six or more years of teaching experience at an accredited institution.
  • Experience with Middle States Commission on Higher Education accreditation.
