Position Overview

Are you passionate about ensuring food safety and quality?

The Food Safety Manager at Operio Group will play a pivotal role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing our quality assurance and food safety initiatives. This position is crucial for monitoring data to optimize systems and quality, as well as addressing customer feedback effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation and management of the facility's Food Safety strategy, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures through regular monitoring, support, and enforcement. This includes conducting plant audits, coordinating risk assessments, managing product recalls, and maintaining essential documentation aimed at achieving ISO 22000 certification.
  • Ensure compliance with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safety standards as per ISO 22000 specifications.
  • Evaluate and approve supplier compliance with Food Safety audits.
  • Design and implement training programs for quality assurance, collaborating with various departments to achieve collective goals.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all products produced at the facility, including raw materials, packaging, and manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with quality specifications.
  • Establish and uphold quality objectives, aligning them with production and business goals in collaboration with management and colleagues to enhance food safety and product quality while minimizing costs.
  • Address customer complaints and emerging issues, engaging relevant functions and process owners to ensure timely investigation and resolution. Document and analyze this data for continuous quality improvement.
  • Act as a key stakeholder in obtaining third-party quality certifications, including CFR111, Gluten Free, Organic, Vegan, Halal, Kosher, and ISO 22000.
  • Maintain monitoring activities and ensure proper documentation retention.
  • Develop and manage internal or external change requests, ensuring timely processing and implementation of approved changes, along with necessary training programs.
  • Administer the HACCP system and manage allergen control initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in managing a HACCP system.
  • Familiarity with Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) or Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA).
  • Experience with ISO 22000 or equivalent BRC standards.
  • Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A drive for excellence and a commitment to high standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management abilities.
