Position Overview:
The American Association of Petroleum Geologists is seeking applications for a tenure-track Geosciences Faculty Member.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education and will be expected to cultivate a vibrant research agenda that actively engages undergraduate students.

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses within the Geosciences curriculum, including foundational and advanced courses, with a focus on environmental geosciences.

We are particularly interested in research specialties that enhance the existing strengths of the Earth and Environmental Geosciences Department; areas of interest may include, but are not limited to, environmental dynamics in terrestrial, critical zone, hydrological, or marine contexts, as well as broader earth systems interactions.

Expertise in geophysics, remote sensing, GIS, programming, or other quantitative methodologies will be viewed favorably.

Preference will be given to candidates who can contribute to the department's and university's core curricula and possess experience in interdisciplinary teaching and global education initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will:
Teach a total of fifteen contact hours per academic year (equivalent to three courses in one semester and two in the other) to fulfill the curricular requirements of the department and the general education curriculum;

Engage in research and scholarly activities that lead to high-quality publications and other intellectual contributions;

Advise and mentor undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Earth and Environmental Geosciences;

Involve undergraduate students in research initiatives;

Participate in service activities for the department, university, profession, and community.

The ideal candidate will possess:
Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level;

Demonstrated scholarship in a research area related to environmental geosciences;

A commitment to involving undergraduate students in research;

A dedication to fostering an inclusive educational environment.

Appointment Details:


This position will be a 9-month appointment with a standard pre-tenure probationary period.


Educational Requirements:

Required:
An earned doctorate in Geosciences.

Maintaining and satisfying minimum attendance requirements is essential for this position. All employees in this role are required to meet this standard. On-site attendance is mandatory.
