Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at The University of Vermont Health Network. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular patrols of hospital facilities to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
  • Respond to emergency situations and incidents, providing timely and effective support to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Investigate and document incidents, including thefts, shortages, and other security-related issues.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication skills to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a safe and secure environment for all.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and goals of the organization.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Ability to pass extensive background investigation.
  • Ability to pass a physical examination.
  • IAHSS Security Officer, Basic Certification preferred.
  • IAHSS Security Officer, Advanced Certification preferred.
  • Avade Workplace Violence Prevention Certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior law enforcement, security, or military experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
