Maintenance Technician Job Description

Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our school's buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain records of work and inspections performed on-site
  • Perform inventory of repair supplies and maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Set up repair appointments with mechanics or electricians as needed
  • Oversee contractors for professional repairs
  • Install new furniture or equipment as required
  • Ensure all safety systems are functioning properly, including smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
  • Conduct routine maintenance on equipment and building systems
  • Complete safety checks on systems and equipment
  • Perform pest control and landscaping tasks
  • Complete general maintenance tasks, including window washing, drywall repair, and painting
  • Detect and repair building issues, such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC problems
  • Respond to and complete maintenance requests and work orders from faculty, staff, and supervisors
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, and tools of the electrical, carpentry, heating, air conditioning, and/or plumbing trades
  • Skilled with a variety of hand and bench tools
  • Technical knowledge of facilities and custodial equipment, with ability to troubleshoot equipment and maintenance issues

Education: An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the job.

Additional Requirements: Must complete background check and fingerprinting requirements.
