$14.92 to $24.92 hrly

Summary:
Provide assistance to educators in addressing the physical and instructional requirements of students with disabilities within a special education environment. Aid in the execution of classroom initiatives, including self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs. Operate under the general oversight of the principal and direct guidance of the certified teacher.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support educators in preparing instructional resources and classroom presentations.
  • Help maintain an organized and tidy classroom environment.
  • Assist with the inventory, care, and upkeep of classroom materials.
  • Aid teachers in maintaining administrative documentation and preparing necessary reports.
  • Provide orientation and support to substitute educators.
  • Assist students with physical disabilities according to their individual needs, including transferring to and from mobility devices.
  • Support students with personal care needs, including feeding and hygiene, following appropriate training.
  • Help manage student behavior, including intervening in crisis situations and addressing disruptive behavior as necessary.
  • Take responsibility for understanding and adapting to each student's unique medical, physical, and communicative requirements.
  • Work with individual students or small groups to enhance motor skills and conduct instructional activities as directed by the teacher.
  • Supervise students throughout the school day, including during lunch and recess.
  • Keep educators informed of any special needs or concerns regarding individual students.
  • Participate in professional development training, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding personnel and student information.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and policies.
  • Support the objectives of the school district and comply with all district regulations.
  • Demonstrate consistent attendance to avoid disruption to district operations.
Other Duties:

Perform additional tasks as assigned that relate to the responsibilities of the position.

Essential Functions/Qualifications/Requirements:

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completed two (2) years of study at an accredited institution (48 college credit hours with required courses); or obtained an Associate's degree (or higher) from an accredited institution; or achieved a minimum score of 450 on the ETS Parapro Exam.
