Applied Behavior Analysis Therapist

The Mercy Autism Center is seeking dedicated individuals to implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) treatment strategies for patients and their families. Under the guidance of a Clinical Supervisor, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) will work with patients to facilitate skill development and reduce challenging behaviors. This role is available in various environments, including community settings, educational institutions, and through telehealth services. This position is classified as hourly, non-exempt, and can be part-time or full-time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct therapeutic interventions to patients in both individual and group settings.
- Ensure that treatment aligns with the clinical standards established by Mercy.
- Accurately collect and document data reflecting patient progress.
- Incorporate feedback from the Clinical Supervisor into each therapy session.
- Engage compassionately with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Foster a safe and supportive atmosphere for all participants.
- Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance clinical skills.
- Maintain precise and timely documentation of patient interactions.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations consistently.
- Represent the Mercy Autism Center with professionalism and integrity.
- Follow all organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must possess a valid Registered Line Technician (RLT) certification.
- Completion of an initial RLT training program, including a comprehensive written examination and practical evaluation, is mandatory.
- Experience with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is preferred.
- Must demonstrate empathy and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members while maintaining a positive outlook.
- Capable of working independently while providing direct patient care.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- A commitment to continuous learning and skill enhancement is necessary.
- Flexibility to work in diverse settings (e.g., center, home, etc.) is required.
- Must have reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance.
- No prior criminal history is acceptable.
- Must pass a tuberculosis screening.
- Willingness to undergo random drug testing as mandated by law or insurance policies.
Work Environment:
Therapeutic interventions may take place in various locations, including the patient's home, community, educational settings, or via telehealth. RBTs will navigate both indoor and outdoor environments, often transitioning between different sites throughout their workday.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to engage with patients in various physical positions, including seated on the floor or in small chairs.
- Frequent movement throughout the therapeutic environment to gather materials and respond to patient needs.
- Capacity to position oneself to assist and instruct patients effectively.
- Continuous visual monitoring of patients and surroundings is necessary.
- Occasional physical intervention may be required to ensure safety.
- Must be able to model vocal communication and assist patients in developing speech skills.
- Occasional demonstration of gross and fine motor skills is expected.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions is essential.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. when assisting patients.
