Overview
The Healthcare Billing Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing billing operations and electronic insurance transactions. This position involves establishing payment arrangements and overseeing collection efforts.
Reporting Structure
This role reports directly to the Director of Financial Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process all primary and secondary claims for various clinics on a daily basis.
- Review remittance advices for denials and initiate resubmissions or corrections as necessary.
- Address patient inquiries via phone, ensuring clarity on account balances, including deductible, co-insurance, and co-pay components.
- Engage with insurance providers to expedite claim resolutions, aiming for timely account settlements.
- Manage credit balances as assigned.
- Document all actions taken on patient accounts within the Meditech system.
- Establish payment plans and/or collect outstanding self-pay balances.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Education:
a.) High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented by on-the-job training in clinic-specific systems.
b.) Additional training in data processing, computer systems, and typing is preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
a.) Not applicable.
Work Experience:
a.) A minimum of two to three years of experience in data processing systems and medical office insurance preparation is preferred.
