As a Clinical Research Nurse Specialist within the Drug Development Unit, your key role will be to provide care and oversight for patients participating in clinical trials.


  • You will diligently monitor study participants throughout their treatment journey, ensuring adherence to protocols.
  • You will administer chemotherapy as prescribed by the medical team.
  • You will interpret EKG results.
  • It is essential to communicate any protocol-related concerns to the investigator.
  • You will evaluate patients for treatment side effects and symptoms related to their condition or progression.
  • You will analyze laboratory results and relay any abnormal findings to the investigator and oncologist.
  • You will track and document patient adherence to medications and follow-up appointments.
  • You will collaborate with pharmacy staff to ensure accurate and timely distribution of study medications.
  • You will maintain an up-to-date medication list and records in accordance with protocol specifications.
  • You will provide the data team with completed follow-up documentation, medical records, lab results, and other essential documents promptly.
  • You will educate and guide ancillary staff on study-specific protocols.
  • You will document and report any adverse events.
  • You will conduct telephone triage as needed.
  • You will review the patients' electronic medical records to confirm that all necessary data is entered before scheduled appointments.
  • You will provide patient counseling and refer them to appropriate support services.
  • You will oversee daily schedules to ensure proper treatment allocation and additional patient visits.

Qualifications for this Role:

  • An Associate Degree; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado.
  • Familiarity with medical and research terminology.
  • Understanding of FDA regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Knowledge of clinical research methodologies.
  • Awareness of Phase I clinical trial protocols.
  • A minimum of one year of acute care nursing experience is required.
  • At least one year of oncology experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a research environment is advantageous.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (to be obtained within nine months of employment).
  • ONS Chemotherapy Provider card (to be obtained within nine months of employment).
  • Research Certification (ACRP or CCRP) is preferred.
