Job Title: Senior Psychologist - Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly experienced Senior Psychologist to serve as the Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health. This position reports directly to the Chief of Staff and is responsible for setting overall goals for the Mental Health Care Line that comply with Veterans Administration, Veterans Health Administration, and Veterans Integrated Service Network strategic goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct all activities of the Mental Health Care Line, including budget and fiscal management, human resource management, strategic planning, clinical and administrative program development, management, and evaluation of services and programs.
  • Ensure that clinical and administrative functions are integrated to provide optimal mental health care to veterans in the context of appropriate utilization of resources.
  • Monitor Patient Safety and Risk Management issues within the Mental Health Care Line and share responsibility with the Chief of Staff.
  • Manage a multi-million-dollar budget, including staffing of approximately 600 FTEE, equipment, leases, non-VA care services, contract funds, etc.
Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Unrestricted U.S. license to practice psychology at the doctoral level.
  • Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association, the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System, or the Canadian Psychological Association.
  • Successful completion of an APA or CPA psychology internship.
  • 4 years of experience as a professional psychologist with at least one year experience as a national Manager, Regional Manager, Department Chief, Assistant Department Chief, Senior Psychology Program Manager, or Senior Psychologist Clinical Investigator.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to manage a substantial budget.
