Job Title: Senior Psychologist (Specialist)

Job Summary:

The Department of State Hospitals is seeking a highly qualified Senior Psychologist (Specialist) to join our team. As a Senior Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing substance use disorder treatment services and assessments on treatment units and in the DSH-Patton Recovery Lifestyle Program (RLP).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and expand clinically indicated Substance Use Disorder Treatment services provided at DSH-Patton.
  • Conducts a needs analysis and engages in ongoing Substance Use Disorder Treatment program development.
  • Providing education and training in substance abuse treatment philosophy and application to psychologists and other DSH-Patton staff.
  • Applicants must possess a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology and possession of an earned Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an educational institution meeting the criteria of Section 2914 of the Medical Board of California's Business and Professions Code.
  • Applicants must also meet one of the following experience requirements: a) One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Psychologist (Health Facility) (any specialty), or Staff Psychologist (any specialty) OR b) Two years of postdoctoral, post-internship experience in the practice of psychology involving assessment and treatment and either training, research, consultation, or program planning in mental health services.

Requirements:

  • A valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology.
  • A Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an educational institution meeting the criteria of Section 2914 of the Medical Board of California's Business and Professions Code.
  • One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Psychologist (Health Facility) (any specialty), or Staff Psychologist (any specialty), or two years of postdoctoral, post-internship experience in the practice of psychology involving assessment and treatment and either training, research, consultation, or program planning in mental health services.

Working Conditions:

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.

  • The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
  • The position(s) require(s) a(n) Psychologist License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.
