Job Overview:
As a Senior Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for administering and coordinating a comprehensive range of safety services and initiatives. Your role will involve implementing, communicating, and facilitating training for employees, contractors, and the public on safety policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure a secure working environment for all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage safety compliance programs while researching regulatory changes to ensure adherence to laws and company policies.
- Conduct safety inspections at facilities and job sites, collaborating with leadership to implement necessary corrective actions.
- Facilitate compliance with regulatory requirements, including monitoring and testing for safety standards.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, providing recommendations for corrective actions and preventive measures.
- Prepare reports for regulatory agencies and internal departments, assisting with compliance documentation.
- Serve as a technical advisor for internal safety committees and represent the company in safety organizations.
- Design and deliver safety training for internal and external audiences, ensuring compliance with educational standards.
- Utilize technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to address safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or 9 years of related work experience without a degree.
- OSHA 30-hour Outreach Training for Construction certification required within the first 90 days of employment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and electric utility safety program components.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Work Environment:
This position involves working in various environments, including office settings, industrial plants, and field locations. Some travel may be required, and outdoor site visits will necessitate the use of personal protective equipment.
