IT Career Development Specialist

We are a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to reducing recidivism and increasing successful reentry for individuals involved in the criminal justice system. Our mission is to equip them with meaningful job skills and labor market access through software coding classes, job readiness instruction, work experience, and entrepreneurship training.
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per yearJob DescriptionThe IT Career Development Specialist will prepare program participants to enter the workforce as confident professionals and serve as a liaison between businesses, educators, and others to locate employment opportunities for them. This role requires some travel, including transportation of clients, and may involve occasional work inside prisons, necessitating a background check and client drug screen clearance.
Responsibilities:- Prepare Participants for Employment:
- Assist participants in self-assessment of job readiness and help remove barriers to employment.
- Build effective participant developmental plans and accurately maintain all required documentation.
- Provide career exploration opportunities through classroom, small group, and individual activities.
- Deliver employment essential skills training, such as resume development, LinkedIn profile creation, and job search strategies.
- Facilitate Learning and Employment Opportunities:
- Establish connections with businesses and industries for employment opportunities, fund-raising, and awareness promotion.
- Coordinate work-based learning opportunities, such as industry tours, guest speakers, and mentorships.
- Connect area employers with students to create work-based learning opportunities like on-the-job training, internships, and apprenticeships.
- Track Participant Activities:
- Manage communication and follow-up with participants, co-workers, program partners, and businesses using available technology.
- Complete assessments to identify job skills and factors limiting potential employment opportunities.
- Monitor and report on program compliance, including placement rates and wages.
- Bachelor's degree in human services or equivalent experience providing workforce development services.
- Experience working with corrections-involved clients and substance abuse disorders is preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
